# What this documentation covers

This is conceptual documentation for a reader who can already build. It covers what Modulus is and why it exists, the programming model, the measured numbers, the soundness argument, and the economics as far as they are settled. It contains no tutorials, no code and no installation steps, because the concrete developer surface has yet to be fixed; those materials arrive with it. Consensus, block production and validator requirements are open design work and will be documented when they are decided. Where a question is open, these pages say that it is open.

The contract is the specification. The proof is the product.
