Hardware, participation, and one open question

Every figure on this page comes from one ordinary desktop CPU; no accelerator, cluster, or specialist machine was involved. The participation claim this supports is that ordinary participation needs ordinary hardware: producing and verifying proofs for your own transitions is within the envelope published here. [A]

One role is different in kind, and this documentation says so rather than waiting for someone to work it out. Anyone proving that a rule was applied to a batch of other people's transactions must know the whole batch, so that prover's cost grows with the batch. [A] Whether such

aggregation roles exist on Modulus, and whether every network role is required to fit the small hardware envelope or aggregation is priced as a specialist role, is an open design decision. No page in this set claims that every role on the network proves on small hardware.
